The Dominik Hasek Youth Hockey
League, or Hasek's Heroes, encourages children to begin to build a
record of personal achievement, which will help them achieve their life
goals in the future. Initiated with a $1,000,000.00 donation from the
NHL great Dominik Hasek, the program was developed to provide children
from low- to moderate- income families of the city of Buffalo with the
opportunity to learn basic skating and hockey skills. Those who
demonstrate aptitude and commitment will participate in a tier hockey
development program, which will enable them to compete at all levels,
including high school.
In an unprecedented partnership with the Buffalo Public School System, Hasek's promotes academic excellence as an integral part of athletics. This unique approach combines athletic development and educational support to foster learning skills that will last a lifetime.
