The First Niagara Center was rocking once again as the Buffalo Sabres hosted SABAH’s Fifth Annual Skate-a-thon!
In their typical gracious manner, the Sabres organization rolled out the red carpet to SABAH athletes and volunteers in February for the annual fun and fundraising event. “As each year passes, I become more amazed by the Sabres’ commitment to SABAH athletes,” states Executive Director Sheila O’Brien. “Their dedication to our organization and to those in our community challenged by disability has been extraordinary. We remain incredibly grateful for their partnership.”
Buffalo Sabre and SABAH spokesperson, Marcus Foligno, was joined by fellow teammates Zenon Konopka, Zemgus Girgensons and Sabretooth to sign autographs and skate with SABAH athletes. In spite of a demanding schedule as a result of the condensed season, the celebrity athletes enthusiastically mixed and mingled with all of our participants, and patiently signed autographs for just about everyone on the ice.
The annual Skate-a-thon has become one of the most anticipated days of the year for many of SABAH’s athletes, volunteers, and their families. As a fundraising event, it provides support for all of SABAH’s programs, and we’re forever grateful to everyone who collected pledges.
We look forward to the 2015 Skate-a-thon! Check back for more information as we get closer.
